Dear
Parents: What an amazing time this has been, working with the best and brightest early childhood and family child care experts in the country. I began on the Board as a Member-at-Large in 2003 and began my term as President-Elect in 2005. As I look back on the work NAFCC has accomplished in the last seven years, I can’t help but be proud of how the organization has grown. This year, in Nashville, we will launch new partnerships with the Office of Head Start and the Child Care Bureau. The recent Head Start reauthorization recognized family child care as a strong setting for young children and work has begun to expand Head Start and Early Head Start through family child care settings. This new spotlight on the profession of family child care highlights the importance of our work every day! When Sue began her term as NAFCC President, she was invited to publish an article in YC, the journal of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NAEYC. The article highlights the benefits of mixed age groups and the importance of strong social relationships built in family child care settings. Please visit our website, www.mondayam.com to read the article as it appeared in the July, 2006 edition of YC. Sincerely, Suzanne (Sue) Schmidt, President Sue Williamson, Executive Director Webmaster@MondayAM.com Copyright ©2010 |
